Cupcakes & D.I.Y tea mask

Hello you!
Happy mothers day!
It is a little late to wish you all a happy mothersday, because it was on 8 may.
But I still hope you all had fun in pampering your mother with gifts and sweet words, because i did and wanted to show you what i did with mothersday. What i did is: i made cupcakes❤ and didn't buy any gifts, because she didn't wanted any and i didn't knew what to get her, so that is why i decided to bake her cupcakes. I actually also wanted to buy her some flowers, but i forgot and on sunday all stores where closed. :( But okay, she was happy with the cupcakes, because it was my first time making them and they turned out pretty good and delicious.

here are some pictures of my cupcakes:
cupcakes with Strawberry frosting

Hazelnuts with vanilla frosting.

Pretty good huh, for a first timer ? =P
Because it turned out that well i wanted to teach you how i did it.
Fist I got the basic recipe for the cupcake and frosting of the internet and i did a little twist with the frosting .  >>> the dutch link for the cupcakes site cupcakes

Ingredients for 12 cupcakes
  • 125 grams butter at room temperature
  • 125 gram sugar or brown sugar
  • 125 grams self raising flour
  •  2 tablespoons milk at room temperature
  •  2 eggs at room temperature
I wanted to make 24 cupcakes so i doubled the ingredients
(for example 125 grams turns into 250 and 2 tablespoons turns into 4 tablespoons, etc.. )

What you need is:
  •  3 large bowl to m
  • a mixer
  • 3 tablespoons
  • a toothpick

How to make the cupcakes:

(hihi, me mixing the ingredients)
  1. Remove the butter and eggs from the fridge in time for them to reach room temperature.
  2. Put a cupcake tin with paper containing tins ready.
  3.  Preheat oven to 170 degrees and make sure that the rack is in the middle of the oven.
  4. Cut the butter into small cubes and put it in a bowl and add the sugar little by little when you are mixing them together at a medium speed. (NOTE: the butter has to be on room temperature.)
  5. Add the eggs 1 by 1 just like the sugan on a medium speed. (NOTE: the eggs has to be on room temperature.)
  6. Add the flour just like the sugar little by little while you are mixing on a medium speed.
  7. Finally add the milk and mix up another two minutes together well with mixer on medium speed.
  8. Grab your cupcake baking tins with the paper containing tins in it which you've already done previously and fill them in with the batter by using a tablespoon. Fill paper baking tins to 2 / 3 full. Thus, the cakes will not rise and well above the paper mold.
  9.  Open the oven and put the cupcake pan in the middle of the oven on the rack. Bake the cupcakes in the oven for 20-25 minutes at 170 degrees. It's best not open the oven door interim, perhaps in different pockets of the cupcakes. After 20 minutes open the oven door and poke you with a toothpick in a cupcake to make sure the cupcakes are cooked. If the toothpick comes out wet the toothpick with a little batter on it than they are not ready yet, so than you have to let the cupcakes bake for 5 more minutes in the oven. Check again after 5 minutes or until done and remove the cupcakes from the oven if it is. Note: Each oven is different, thus making any of your baking cupcakes differences. ( i used like 30-35 minutes till they where ready on the oven setting 3/4)
  10. Let the cupcakes cool off while you are making the frosting. What i did is, i took them out of the cupcake baking tin to let them cool off and i started with my other 12 cupcakes, because i wanted to have 24 cupcakes. But with the last 12 cupcakes i have putted some chopped hazelnuts in the batter and mixed it with a tablespoon, before i fill the cupcakes tins with it, because i wanted to make 12 strawberry cupcakes and 12 hazelnutscupcakes. You don't have to do this step, because its optional, you can put anything you like in the batter, like fruit or nuts, etc...
For the hazelnuts cupcakes i have putted on whole hazelnut in the middle of the cupcake when they where ready.

Okay this was it for the cupcakes, now on to the frosting

Ingredients for the strawberry frosting:
  •  250 grams powdered sugar
  • 250 grams soft butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pink food coloring
  • and some strawberry's

How to make the strawberry frosting:
  1. Put the soft butter in a bowl and mix it.
  2. Than slowly add the powdered sugar little by little and mix it up until it is a nice cream.
  3. Add the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix a few drops of pink food color through the topping.
  5. Use a blender and blend the strawberry to tiny little pieces, but don't over blend it, just till they are chopped in tiny pieces.
  6. Add the strawberry's including the juice that came out off the strawberry's to make the frosting taste like straweberry's . Note if the frosting is too thin, because of the juice, than you can add some flower or more powedered sugar if the frosting is not sweet enough.
  7. Make the topping on the cupcakes with a piping bag or a knife. Decorate the cupcakes as desired.  I decorated them with a home made piping bag and some sugar hearts, but because the piping bag was home made, it didn't turned out as pretty as i wanted to be.
TIPS: the Ingredients for the topping are good enough for 12 cupcakes << < according to the website. BUT that is not true because i got a lot of delicious strawberry frosting leftover. So i think you just need half the powdered sugar and butter for 12 cupcakes.

See? i still got a lot of strawberry frosting leftover that i had to trow away T_T
and that was a waste , because the frosting turned out very good and it had a delicious strawberry flavour.

Now on to the vanilla hazelnuts frosting if your intrested.

Ingredients for the vanilla hazelnuts frosting:
  • same as the strawberry ingredients except the pink food coloring and the strawberry's
  • And not 1 teaspoon of vannilla extract but 2 or 2 and 1/2
How to make the vanilla hazelnuts frosting frosting:

Step 1 till 4 is the same as the strawberry frosting
5. Make the topping on the cupcakes with a piping bag or a knife.
6. Chop the hazelnuts with a big knife in tiny pieces and put them on the vannila frosting.
7. Add some chocholate decorations if you want. (what i did)

See the tiny hazelnuts and chocolate decorations on the vanilla frosting?

FINISHED! your cupcakes are ready to eat.
I gave them to my mom and she said it was delicious, so i was happy, because as i said earlier it was my first time making them. My father also liked it :) , but he always like to eat sweets like cookies and cakes, etc .. =P so maybe i should make them again for fathers day xD

These 3 i have saved for my boyfriend to taste. He actually doesn't really like to eat sweets, but he ate them all =D

Going On with the Do It Yourself tea mask

I made a tea mask by using Compressed Face Mask sheets, they are sheets compressed in a little round shape and if you put water on it, it will absorb the water and than you can fold it out into a facemask

see picture, if you don't know what i mean
Okay now you all now what a compressed face mask sheet is, than i will begin telling what i used to make the tea mask with and why i chose to use those ingredients.

What you need is:

  •  a glass or cup
  • hot boiled water
  • 3 drops of pure tea tree oil
  • half tablespoon of chinese tea (leaves or how you call it)
  • A jasmine/green tea bag
  • a teaspoon of organic olive oil
  • a teaspoon of honey

Why i chose these ingredients:

Green tea, because it contains a high level of powerfull antioxidant called polyphenols, which work to
neutralize free radicals and toxins that damages our cellular tissue and because green tea is antibacterial and it is good for treating acne ( wich i don't have, but my boyfriend does have acne , not not really anymore but he does has acne scares now) So if you have acne prone skin, i recommend you to use green tea on your face.
Honey, because honey is used in skin care as a moisturizer and anti-irritant and because it
is known as natural humectant which means it has an ability to attract moisture and hold it. The humectant quality is especially good for those people who have oily skin. It keeps your skin moist without oiliness.( i don't have a oily skin, but a dry to normal skin and honey is also good for that because it keeps your skin moisturized) Also! honey+green tea means pimple treatment.
Olive Oil, because olive oil is good for everything. It gives your skin a smooth, radiant complexion and it helps to maintain the elasticity of  your skin.
It also is good for the nails and hair, because it heals dry, brittle nails and softens cuticles and it condition and adds shine to your hair. So olive oil is always good to use in everyting.
Tea tree oil, because tea tree is a must have for in your house, because it does everything! just click on the link for more info >>> tea tree oil
Now you know why i chose these ingredients to make a tea mask with, so it's time to tell you how i make the mask.

How I make it:
  1. take a glass or cup and fill it half up with hot boiled water.
  2. put all the ingredients in it.
  3. Let it cool off for about 30 minutes and  take the tea bag out of it and them let it cool off  30 minutes again so that the water has absorbed all the good stuff out of the ingredients.
  4. if one hour has passed and the water is cold than it is ready to use.
  5. pour the water onto the compressed face mask sheets till it becomes all big and stuff, than fold it out until a face mask and put it on your face for about an hour or more if you want. (What i like to do is put it on my face and sleep with it xD till the facemask is all dry and till I wake up like 1/3 hours later and than i will take the mask off and rinse my face with water.)
  6. rinse your face with water.
Your face should feel refreshed and clean.

Have fun with it ! You can do this with your mother, friends or even boyfriend like i did =P

here is a funny picture of us, we always like to take funny pictures with the mask on, than go to sleep for 1/3 hours, wake up and take of the face mask and rinse it off. Just like i alreay mentioned on how i make it step 5.

I hope you all liked my post this time, if you did the cupcakes, tell me how it taste and if you did the mask, tell me how your face feels or if it has help your skin improve or something :)
